The Ultimate Work Management System
How to Get Everything Done and Still Have Time to Play
The Shocking Truth is that most people don’t have a system to manage their work, their time and their life.
The result is that most people manage everything that they need to do in their heads.
And those who don’t manage things in their heads are using simple to-do lists, which are just as ineffective.
Here’s the problem they face.
The commonly known tools and systems were designed for the Industrial Age.
They simply don’t work with the fast economic, social and technological changes we have today.
Which means that they are overworked, working harder than they should for the returns they are getting.
They deserve more than they are getting.
But they need a new way of working.
Luckily, I’ve got a solution for you, which I discovered from the unlikeliest of places.
Hi, I'm Faizel.
I'm the Owner of Using Mind Maps Academy and I'm an Information Systems Manager turned Management Consultant, Trainer and Coach.
I help people implement their Vision, even if they only have a few hours a week to work on it.
An unlikely solution…
I have been managing software development teams for more than two decades.
And we were always under pressure to deliver quality software on time and on budget.
But, we almost always failed to do this.
Software development has thousands of stories from all around the world about failed projects that were way over budget and did not meet the user’s requirements, despite the developers working long hours and being some of the most intelligent people on the planet.
The reason was that they were trying to run software development like an engineering project.
Detailed planning upfront, project management tools and detailed To-Do lists did not help.
These tools and methods worked well if you wanted to build a bridge over the Grand Canyon, where being out by a few inches would be a disaster.
But they didn’t work well for software development, where things were dynamic and fluid.
And the longer they took on a software project, the more the requirements had changed, and the more likely the project was to fail.
It felt as if they were chasing a moving target.
What worked so well in the industrial and engineering age was broken.
A new way of working was needed.
Out of this problem, a bunch of clever Software Engineers got together to figure out a new system.
From this collaboration, Agile Methods were developed which valued responding to change more than following a plan.
My teams started applying Agile Methods and the results were amazing!
It’s easy to fall back
Yet it’s so easy to fall back into the old school trap.
A few years ago I started my Online Training Academy.
And very soon after, I was sitting with my head in my hands, work piling up, stressed out of my mind…
I had gone back to managing everything in my head with some to-do lists.
It wasn’t until I had the idea of using the Lean and Agile methods that I learned as an Information Systems Manager, that I got my work flowing and started to move forward at a pace that I was happy with.
But, even better, I had time for family, friends and my personal well-being.
Let me introduce you to this system, which I’ve adapted for use outside the software development world.
